Browsing antique stores is always the most wild fucking time. I found an insanely cursed Sean Connery Barbie in my favorite antique store which is nothing new there are like 20 super cursed dolls in that store but they sell men’s flannels for $12 so

So I have absolutely been inside this specific antique store (unless this is a pocket dimension that exists in many places, the store I know of is in downtown tacoma, WA). It’s spooky as hell, you can’t ever find anyone working there (the one time I did find a clerk he looked like he hadn’t left this garbage mansion in years, his hair was ginger and way too long and way too crunchy), it’s always disturbingly quiet despite being on a main downtown street, and to leave you have to meditate on that desire to summon an exit less you be trapped forever. The floors are incredibly uneven with lots of ramps and rooms on a slope. The library is my favorite part. There’s chairs and shit hanging from the ceiling all over the place. There are several false doors and windows. The inside in undeniably larger than the outside. This place is filled with a miasthma of chaotic energy.

To heal your soul, I recommend going to Mad Hat Tea just around the corner which also has a very real Vibe but it is healing and calming to a magical degree. A classmate of mine said once she had a terrible cold and went to Mad Hat between classes and asked the woman to give her something good for colds, she drank it without question and immediately her cold was gone. Shit theres so many like, old-magic-aura areas in downtown Tacoma guys, it’s crazy.

A male colleague was making fun of the #metoo movement a few days ago, and many more (I’m one of 5 women in a department of 200 men) joined in. So I raised my voice and said I was glad women were speaking up about sexual harassment and assault and that I hoped that everyone who perpetuated this toxic behavior got taken down.

“Yeah but it’s a trend now, lots of them are just saying it for their 15 minutes of fame.” He then continued to say that he didn’t know anyone who had been harassed or any man who had done it.

I asked him if he had a daughter. He did. I asked him how old she was. She was was 17. I told him I’d bet my rent money that his daughter had experienced sexual harassment.

“That’s impossible.”

“Did you ask her?”

“No.”

“Well then, do it.”

The next day, he came in the office with five bouquets of flowers for all the women in our department, including me. He publicly apologized for making fun of sexual harassment and for making our lives harder by doing so. He said that he simply hadn’t known how widespread it was. Apparently, his daughter deals with it very regularly. She hadn’t told him because of the way he spoke about assault cases that were on the news. She thought he’d think less of her if she’d mention it. It was her idea that he should make a public announcement. He said he felt like a bad father.

I said: “You were. Same goes for everyone who laughed with you. Be better, now you know better. And educate other men that still think the same way you did yesterday. And next time someone tells you about an experience they have, don’t automatically assume that because you haven’t seen it, it’s not true. That kind of willful ignorance is why we still deal with this shit.”

He also offered to pay my rent as that was part of the bet, but I told him I’d rather have him put effort in being a person his daughter and wife could be proud of.

In conversation the other day my mom stopped and asked my dad about what percentage of women he thought had experienced sexual harassment. He said about 20-30% maybe. My mom told him that both of us had been harassed multiple times at work (same goes for both of her sisters) and that she had actually been assaulted by a groper on a public bus. I have never seen anyone’s face go slack so quickly before as he realized that literally every woman in his family had experienced this. And while I’m glad he believed us and has changed his view on that subject I still can’t shake the frustration, the anger, that it required being sat down and spoonfed these incidents that we didn’t particularly wanted to relive. This is something that women have been saying for years, but men just never listen. Not even when they’re forced to sit in mandatory harassment in the workplace training seminars.

Every few days or so, after Lance had finally accepted the gifts of clothes from his Pack Alphas, he would find a fresh pile of linens parked outside his door. Well, fresh as in freshly scented by the three Paladins, Lance supposed. In return, he would leave the clothes he’d nested in, the ones that lacked the scent of Alpha but were totally saturated with his own sweet aroma, in bundles outside of Hunk, Shiro and Keiths rooms.
Albeit the exchange of clothes that was taking place behind the scenes, face to face it was as if nothing had changed. Lance wasn’t sure if it was his own fault - or that of the presence of the Galran Generals - but he wasn’t very fond of the sneakiness that unwittingly seemed to accompany his affections. No matter how much he disliked it, however, he didn’t dare bring it up to the Voltron Alphas, not out of dislike but out a fear that the reactions and annoyance that followed his initial coming out would be repeated. Lance wasn’t sure if he could handle that again.
Nontheless, things aboard the castleship settled into a rather mundane cycle of training, eating, sleeping, and for Lance, delicately trying his hardest to not upset the hesitant peace between the packs. As all things were, inevitably, the peace aboard the ship was finite, coming to an end with the alarm blaring through all corners of the castle, summoning Lance from his peaceful dozing between Alpha-scented sheets and to the obvservation deck.
Everyone was already gathered, the bright, cheerful colours of the Paladin armour clashing garishly with the dark, regal undertones that the Galra seemed so fond of. Looking at them side-by-side, it was obvious that the Altean armour was designed for stealth and not for taking heavy damage, whilst the armour the Generals donned was much more suited to defensive tactics. Lance smiled stupidly to himself at the observation, strolling across the darkened room to lean against the wall closest to the automated entryway to his Lion.
“Paladins! Listen up,” Allura spoke up, scanning the room and locking eyes with each of them in turn; as if to make sure they were listening. “We’ve just recieved a transmission from one of our allied planets; Sera. They send news of another one of Haggars creations, which is rapidly bringing ruin to their central city. As a valued part of the coilition, they are under our protection, so we must form Voltron and prevent the beast from bringing ruin to the planet!”
Lance’s eyes widened. If another Robeast was on the loose, that surely meant that Zarkons influence wasn’t as incapacitated as the emperor himself. It was a sticky situation in general, with the unrest in the Galra empire, but albeit Voltron had been scheming with the Prince and his Generals, they hadn’t yet acted upon their plan to finally put an end to Zarkons life. Chewing on his lip, Lance brought a hand up behind his neck and pressed in at the sensitive skin gently, attempting to soothe his own bubbling worries and tune back into the tactical discussion taking place in front of him. He was a little too late, however, and as he finally managed to snap back to attention, they were dismissed to their lions by the princess.
Unwilling to be left behind or make it known that Lance was clueless as to their tactical approach for today, the blue paladin simply let himself be whisked away and settled into Blue with a worried whine. No matter how underprepared he felt, or the lingering sense of foreboding that sat heavy in his gut, Lance took off behind the other Paladins and fell into formation as they sped towards the planet in need of Voltrons assistance.
It didn’t take long to reach Sera, but even the peaceful ride in his beloved lion couldn’t settle his frazzled nerves. It was made even worse when they entered the planet’s atmosphere and saw the full extent of the Robeasts destruction.
The very first time they’d visited Sera, Lance had been more than taken aback. The whole planet consisted of nothing but Omega, Omega of all species who had either been cast out, or grown frustrated with the increasing power that Alpha of their own species had over them. They were all headstrong, determined, beautiful creatures, and not one of them were remotely interested in bowing down to the will of an Alpha, but somehow remained intoxicatingly true to their nature. The planet in its entirety was one of the most influential, technologically advanced in its galaxy, and to think that it had all been achieved by people like him had understandably changed Lances viewpoint on his own biology altogether. Upon their first visit, Lance had, for the first time in his life, tasted what it could be like to live as an omega, had made use of the ‘Comfort Centres’ the people of Sera had constructed to offer tactile support to the more sensitive members of their communities and had been accepted, albeit secretly, by the people he had encountered. They were aware of his biology even with his blockers, but they hadn’t betrayed his trust to the other Paladins, and for that Lance had become even more infatuated with the planet and its inhabitants.
Seeing it now, in smoldering ruins, hurt Lances heart in a way he wasn’t aware was possible. By the time the lions touched down in what remained of the Central city, Lance was almost in tears. He steeled himself, gritting his teeth as he manoeuvred Blue in a slow circle, surveying the near-complete annihilation of what had once been a flourishing city, but was now a graveyard of corpses and rubble. On top of that, the smoke billowing from the flaming remains shrouded their sight and, tinged purplish as all thing Galra seemed to be, made the whole place seem all the more desolate.
‘Okay, team. Pidge, Hunk, you two head to the southward side of the city and start a perimeter check. Lance, Keith and I will take the northern half. Move clockwise until we’ve conducted a full search.’ Over the comms, Shiros voice crackled to life, and like the well-oiled machine they were, everyone sprung into action.
Lance, Keith and Shiro fell into an easy formation, Red and Black hovering almost imperceptibly in front of Blue as they began their wary search.
It was around a quarter of the way round the outskirts of the city that Lance began to feel woozy. The purple haze that had initially seemed harmless was now more vivid than ever, seeping into everything Lance was seeing and making him dizzy and confused. He whimpered softly, moving to speak up when the very ground the lions were standing on trembled.
'Pidge, Hunk, to our location! Stat!’ Keith called urgently, and Lance, Shiro and Keith could only watch in horror as the ground itself seemed to shatter outwards, a mass of writhing material and razor sharp legs surfacing with an ungodly shriek. The three lions surged backwards, and Lance desperately fought the haze incapacitating himself to study the newest Robeast screeching in front of them.
Hunk and Pidge were at their mark in seconds and, just as they’d trained to do, the Paladins began to fight.
It was gruesome, to say the least. The beast was some kind of centipede-esque creature and if it’s razor sharp legs and pincers weren’t enough, it just so happened to breathe a vicious purple flame that scorched the Paladins even through the protection of their lions. The fight was harsh and long, and The longer it dragged on the more and more dazed Lance was becoming.
By the time they’d finally managed to land enough hits on the Robeast for Shiro to end it with a swift slice of his Lions sword, Lance was so unbelievably out of it that he could barely form coherent sentences, haphazardly landing Blue beside where he beleived the other Paladins to be and scrambling out from her cockpit. He collapsed just outside of her loading ramp, hunching over as violent heaves wracked his body. Feeling unbelievably awful, the omega whined appreciatevely at the firm hand that settled on his back, smoothing circles across his tense muscles whilst Lance emptied the contents of his stomach onto the ruins of the Central City of Cera.
So out of it, he was completely oblivious to the fact that the hand on his back was significantly larger than that of his fellow paladins. It took mere moments for his vision to go black completely, barely catching the soft 'Vrepit Sa’ that followed him into unconscious.
